ERI launches India venture as part of major Asian e-waste expansion
US-based Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) has launched ERI India, a 50/50 joint venture with Indian recycler Eco Recycling Limited (Ecoreco) .
The new venture will focus on electronics recycling, IT asset disposition (ITAD) and the recovery of valuable materials from end-of-life equipment. It will establish ERI’s first branded operation in India, combining the company’s recycling expertise with Ecoreco’s local infrastructure and market knowledge.
India is the world’s third-largest generator of electronic waste. Regulations also restrict the import and export of e-waste, increasing the importance of domestic recycling capacity.
The partnership forms part of ERI’s broader expansion in Asia, following ventures in Japan and Vietnam.
ERI says it has processed more than 3 billion pounds of electronic waste through its US operations.
