Tosca advances asset traceability with Asset IQ
Tosca is expanding digital traceability across reusable packaging and logistics assets with Asset IQ, an established platform developed and refined over several years that combines Active IoT tracking, Passive RFID and barcode technologies .
Rather than applying the same tracking technology to every asset, Asset IQ uses a dual active and passive architecture designed to match different operational requirements.
Asset IQ Active provides real-time visibility for high-value assets where precise location and condition monitoring are critical. Asset IQ Passive uses RFID and barcode technologies to provide cost-effective tracking for large populations of reusable containers and pallets in high-volume operations.
🔗 Both approaches are integrated into a unified system, creating a digital record of asset movements and utilisation throughout the asset lifecycle. The service can be used for Tosca assets managed through pooling, rental and direct sales, as well as deployed as a standalone solution for third-party assets.
One area Tosca is exploring is hybrid traceability for highly automated supply chains. An IoT-enabled pallet, for example, could transport multiple crates fitted with passive RFID tags, providing visibility at different levels of the supply chain while helping control tracking costs.
“Tosca Asset IQ is the result of years of experience helping customers improve visibility and control across complex supply chains,” explains Eric Frank, CEO, Tosca. “Our dual active and passive architecture enables businesses to select the right level of traceability for their operations while maintaining a single view of their assets. The result is greater efficiency, improved decision-making and stronger supply chain performance.”
As sensors, chips, connectivity solutions and battery systems become more accessible, Tosca sees further opportunities to combine active and passive technologies through a single dashboard.
📊 The data generated by Asset IQ can also help companies improve inventory management, process optimisation, route planning and asset utilisation, while reducing losses and unnecessary transport movements.
The technology is designed to support circular supply chains by helping businesses maximise the value and utilisation of reusable containers and pallets, while also supporting sustainability and regulatory requirements.
Asset IQ supports applications across retail, food, beverage and consumer goods, where greater visibility, accountability and operational efficiency are becoming increasingly important.
