BIR to Host 2025 World Recycling Convention & Exhibition in Bangkok for the First Time

The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has officially announced that its World Recycling Convention & Exhibition will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on 27–28 October 2025. This will be the first time in BIR’s history that the global recycling industry’s flagship event is held in Thailand — a strategic move that highlights the growing importance of the recycling sector within the ASEAN region and Asia more broadly. The Convention will be hosted at the Centara Grand Hotel & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld — one of Southeast Asia’s leading event venues, located in the heart of Bangkok’s commercial and retail hub. With seamless access via the BTS Skytrain, top-tier amenities, and abundant accommodation options, the venue offers an ideal setting for global delegates.

The BIR Convention has become a cornerstone for international collaboration and innovation in the recycling industry. Each year, it brings together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, decision-makers, and commodity experts to discuss trends, policy developments, technologies, and business opportunities across the recycling value chain.

Attendees in Bangkok can look forward to:

Plenary sessions covering up-to-date insights and market overviews for each of BIR’s commodity divisions: Ferrous Metals, Non-Ferrous Metals, Tyres, Plastics, EEEVB (electronics)

A dedicated Exhibition space showcasing the latest recycling innovations, equipment, and solutions from leading global suppliers.

Access to BIR’s mobile Convention app, featuring real-time updates, meeting planning tools, and a searchable directory of all participants (available one month prior to the event).

Extensive networking opportunities, including business lounges, luncheons, and the BIR Welcome Evening on Monday, 27 October. Full participation in plenary session on emerging topics such as e-waste, EV batteries, rubber/tyres, stainless steel and special alloys. Registration for the Convention is now open. BIR Members receive exclusive discounted registration fees, and Gold Member companies can enjoy an additional 20% discount.

BIR’s last Convention, held in Valencia, Spain, in 2024, was a record-breaking success, drawing over 2,000 participants and 50+ exhibitors from 66 countries. BIR represents over 71 countries, through national recycling associations and individual companies. It continues to lead international advocacy for free and fair trade in secondary raw materials, while also pushing for higher standards in sustainability, environmental protection, and resource efficiency.

Registration is now open for all BIR Members at www.bir.org Non-members are welcome to register by emailing: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
