McDonald International Launches Recycling Plant at Hespin Wood, UK

McDonald International has designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a new recycling plant for Cumbria Waste Group at Hespin Wood, Carlisle.

The project brings together equipment and technologies from McDonald International, TOMRA and Magnapower, forming an integrated material recovery system for mixed recyclables.

15 tonnes per hour infeed

The line is designed around an infeed dosing hopper with a throughput of up to 15 tonnes per hour, providing controlled feeding of material into the sorting process.

The plant combines mechanical handling and sorting technologies to separate recyclable materials, with recovered streams including plastics, paper and cardboard, glass and metals.

Cumbria Waste Group says its Hespin Wood site uses the latest technology to produce high-grade recyclable products.

Integrated engineering and sorting

McDonald International delivered the project from design and equipment manufacturing through installation and commissioning, bringing different technologies together into one operating line.

The project combines technologies from McDonald International, TOMRA and Magnapower as part of the integrated recycling system.

From feeding to material recovery

The video shows the completed plant in operation.

From controlled feeding at 15 tonnes per hour to automated sorting and material recovery, the project demonstrates how equipment integration and engineering design translate into a working material recovery facility.

For waste-processing plants, controlled material feeding is an important part of maintaining a stable flow through the sorting process and supporting consistent performance of downstream equipment.

Engineering value from waste.
