Sutco commissions automated waste sorting plant in Brazil
BRUSQUE, Brazil — July 2026 — Sutco RecyclingTechnik has commissioned a new automated municipal solid waste (MSW) sorting plant for Ciclare in Brusque, Santa Catarina, as Brazil expands its capacity to recover recyclable materials.
🏭 Built by Sutco RecyclingTechnik together with its Brazilian subsidiary, Sutco Brasil, the facility can process up to 52 tonnes of mixed household waste per hour, equivalent to around 225,000 tonnes annually.
The plant is equipped with five optical NIR sorters and a fully automated channel baler. It is designed to recover PET, PP, PE, plastic films, ferrous and non-ferrous metals from mixed municipal waste.
♻️ According to Sutco, recovery rates of up to 93% can be achieved for 3D PET, PP and PE.
The company describes the facility as one of the first fully automated MSW sorting plants of its kind in Brazil, highlighting the growing role of automated sorting technology in the country’s recycling infrastructure.
