France’s Most Advanced MRF: ValcopIA Sets New Standards in Recycling Efficiency

Opened in July 2025, ValcopIA in Toulouse is now the largest and most advanced Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in France. Operated by Paprec and powered by Pellenc ST’s cutting-edge technology, the plant sets a new benchmark for AI-driven, high-performance waste sorting. Key facts:

Capacity: 68,000 tonnes/year, serving 1 million residents in Haute-Garonne.

21 Mistral+ CONNECT™ optical sorters recover 13 material fractions.

13 AISEE™ gantries use artificial intelligence for real-time quality control and performance optimisation.

Recycling efficiency: over 92%.

Technologies like TURBOSORTER™, AEROLIGHT™, and SMART&SHARE™ data dashboards enable ultra-precise, energy-efficient separation of paper, cardboard, and plastics — with full ISO 27001 data security.

With this next-generation facility, Paprec and Pellenc ST demonstrate how digitalisation and AI can drive Europe’s recycling industry toward a truly circular economy.

“Thanks to all these technologies, we achieve recycling rates of over 92%,” says Vincent Castaignède, Director of ValcopIA.
