Carisbrook Transfer Station pavement (Australia) made from 34% recycled content.
The failing pavement at the Carisbrook Transfer Station has recently been upgraded, thanks to Sustainability Victoria’s Sustainable Infrastructure Fund.
Concrete supplier, Hanson, worked with Council to develop a suitable product. After extensive lab and field testing, the new pavement was made with 34% recycled content, including 14% glass.
The 487 tonnes of concrete used in the project, 68 tonnes was recycled glass – the equivalent of 53,000 glass bottles.
“The new pavement represents a significant upgrade and is expected to have a much longer functional life than the previous product, which rapidly started deteriorating after being installed less than ten years ago.
