STADLER expands into Japan as the country accelerates its transition toward a circular economy
The move comes as Japan increases focus on plastics recycling, upstream sorting and resource efficiency under tightening circular economy regulations, including the Plastic Resource Circulation Act
. Historically, Japan’s waste management system has relied heavily on Waste-to-Energy infrastructure due to limited landfill capacity and high urban density. However, interest is now growing in pre-incineration sorting systems capable of recovering valuable materials before thermal treatment.

🔹 metal recycling solutions
🔹 integration of sorting systems alongside WtE infrastructure
“This opening is an important milestone. We believe that with our technology, we can make a significant contribution to improving the sorting of valuable materials in Japan and return them to the recycling loop for a cleaner and more sustainable world,” said Willi Stadler, Co-CEO of STADLER Group.
The company has already been active in Japan for more than a decade, supplying PET presorting plants, ballistic separators and high-speed conveyors across the country.
According to STADLER, the expansion reflects increasing momentum in the Japanese recycling market and growing demand for advanced dry sorting technologies.
