♻️ The UK takes a major step toward Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles.

A new impact assessment commissioned by Reconomy and conducted by Resource Futures sheds light on how a future EPR scheme for textiles could function in the UK. The study outlines three potential scenarios for policy design and estimates that EPR could generate up to £1.4 billion in funding for collection and recycling infrastructure by 2035. Key findings include:

Significant reductions in textile waste through incentivized producer responsibility; Improved transparency and accountability across the value chain; Investment potential for circular business models and recycling innovation; As countries across Europe move toward circularity in fashion and textiles, the UK’s preparatory steps signal a shift in policy momentum.

To be explored further at the Textiles Recycling Expo, 24–25 June 2026, Brussels, Belgium https://events.amiplastics.com/textiles-recycling-expo
