Waste Robotics Launches WR4 — Next-Generation AI Metal Sorting System

Waste Robotics has officially launched its WR4 End-of-Arm Tool and AI-driven gripper system, now commercially available to facilities focused on metal sorting and recovery. Following months of beta testing and validation, the WR4 has been engineered to handle heavy, irregular, and tangled metal objects with precision and consistency. Paired with the Fanuc M20 robotic arm, the WR4 delivers robust performance in harsh environments while simplifying calibration and integration for operators.

Key innovations include:p>

3D calibration tools for accurate depth referencing in variable conveyor layouts Real-time camera exposure and gain control for optimized visual accuracy Dynamic on-site tool parameterization enabling faster setup and minimal downtimep>

Version 3.7.0 fully integrates WR4 into the Waste Robotics ecosystem — joining WR1 (bags), WR2 (C&D materials), and WR3 (plastics) — giving MRFs a complete modular suite for automated waste recovery.p>

“Every update in this release focuses on operator control,” said Ziad Akl-Chedid, VP of Product at Waste Robotics. “The WR4 gives users more visibility and precision without adding complexity.”p>

As automation demand grows across material recovery facilities, the WR4 represents a major step forward in AI-powered metal recovery, designed to deliver accuracy, adaptability, and reliability shift after shift.p>
