Karishma Gupta, Founder & CEO, Eslando Special for Circular Economy News “Even the most 'sustainable' dress can end up in a landfill.” This realisation came early in my career, after years in apparel production across India and Bangladesh. Later, while researching circular models at London College of Fashion, I saw how little infrastructure actually exists to keep textiles in circulation. That led me to launch Eslando—a B2B platform connecting textile waste handlers with specialised recyclers. Our mission is to accelerate textile recycling by building the infrastructure needed to scale circularity. Eslando helps manufacturers, waste management companies, and textile waste traders digitise the process of sourcing and selling textile waste. Whether it’s post-industrial or post-consumer material, our platform makes it easier to list, match, and move waste—filtered by fibre, colour, quality, and recycling compatibility. What makes Eslando different is our focus on standardisation, transparency, and digital matching. We collaborate closely with recyclers to understand their specific feedstock needs, using AI to optimise connections between suppliers and processors. This is not just about transactions—it’s about building a digital backbone for circular fashion. Since launching in March 2025, we’ve mapped over 20,000 tonnes of textile waste and partnered with 48 clients in 11 countries. We’ve helped them trade more efficiently, responsibly, and confidently—offering a clear alternative to landfill or incineration. We’re especially proud of the knowledge transfer we’ve enabled. By educating stakeholders on what materials are viable for different recycling technologies, we’ve helped more players enter the market with clarity. Now, we’re focused on scale. We’re onboarding more recyclers—especially in cotton, polyester, and nylon recovery—and partnering with manufacturers to pre-process and standardise waste. We're also building integrated tools like logistics support and escrow payments to reduce friction and boost trust in the system. To date, Eslando hosts over 30,000 tonnes of fibre, yarn, and clothing waste. Our goal is simple: to make textile recycling not only possible, but profitable, scalable, and part of everyday operations.
