AMP Robotics Named to TIME’s “Best Inventions of 2025” for Its AI-Powered Waste Sorting System

TIME Magazine has recognized AMP Robotics’ AMP One among its Top 25 Inventions of 2025, highlighting its transformative role in advancing circular waste management. Developed by the Colorado-based company, AMP One uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to accurately identify and sort recyclables, compostables, and residual waste—addressing inefficiencies that cause an estimated 76% of residential recyclables to end up in landfills.

AMP’s innovation marks a major step toward fully automated, data-driven recycling operations capable of recovering materials that traditional systems often miss.

The company is also pursuing a 20-year partnership with the Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) in Virginia to process up to 500,000 tons of waste annually, demonstrating the scalability and commercial potential of AI-enabled recycling infrastructure.
