STEINERT to present new LIBS and AI sorting advances at ALUMINIUM 2026

From 6 to 8 October 2026, STEINERT will present new developments in aluminium sorting at ALUMINIUM in Düsseldorf, focusing on smaller grain sizes and smarter separation.

Finer material and higher efficiency with STEINERT PLASMAX | LIBS

A new laser grid for STEINERT PLASMAX | LIBS enables processing of grain sizes down to 15 mm. The option combines higher resolution with increased power for higher output. The laser grid enables reliable detection with high belt occupancy at a belt speed of up to 4 m/s. The development extends the sorting range to smaller grain sizes while maintaining processing performance.

The system offers three material discharges and supports multiple product streams. Its high object rate enables high throughput, while multi-spot analysis uses several measurement points per piece. The STEINERT.dashboard has also been expanded with production-support features, providing information to support stable sorting.

STEINERT’s AI landscape improves cast and wrought aluminium separation

In October, STEINERT will introduce its AI-supported Intelligent Object.Identifier (IOI). It combines different AI-based methods with object-based information from all sensor sources and spectral analyses to optimise material classification.

On the STEINERT KSS | XT L, IOI uses an optimised sort-filter setup to detect low-silicon (Si) alloys. This maintains high wrought-aluminium purity while increasing output by up to 40% compared with conventional sorting. Existing KSS | XT L machines can be retrofitted to use the technology without complete machine replacement.

🎦 Free tour of STEINERT’s Test & Development Center

On 9 October 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00, STEINERT will offer a free guided tour of its Test & Development Center near Cologne. The approximately three-hour tour includes a complete downstream metal-processing line producing clean aluminium and alloys from mixed metal scrap.

📍 ALUMINIUM 2026: 6–8 October, Düsseldorf, Hall 6, Stand 6F01. STEINERT will present its latest solutions and hold daily expert presentations on “Enabling furnace-ready secondary aluminium”.
